North Side-Perry South/ Charles St. Valley

The Mwanakuche Community Garden was created in 2017, with an approximately ¾ acre plot leased through the City of Pittsburgh’s Adopt a Lot program.  The garden is located in Pittsburghs North Side Perry South/ Charles St. Valley neighborhood Our purpose  is to educate and provide a reliable, healthy, culturally-appropriate, and in-demand food source for the immigrant communities. the spring and summer months volunteers from the community plant, maintain, and harvest a variety of produce. The produce grown is sold at their weekly farmstand and donated to members of the community. Revenues generated from the farmstand provide financial support for farm operations and programming.
